Registration is OPEN for Summer & Fall Programs!
One of the greatest gifts we can offer your child is the joy of learning. Our aim is to ensure that learning is a fun activity where children are given multiple opportunities to advance at their own pace, and are continuously challenged by new materials that meet their specific, individual needs. Our primary role as Montessori teachers is to connect students with their work, rather than simply impart knowledge to them.
Whether your child is registered in our Montessori or Daycare program, children are encouraged to work together in small groups on projects and tasks - we encourage kids to help each other, helping to reinforce knowledge and social skills for all of our children.
Our Teaching Method
At Green Trails Mont, we practice the Reggio Emilia teaching method. This approach incorporates an educational philosophy that uses self-directed, experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. The practice is based on the guiding principles of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery. The Reggio Emilia core involves an assumption that children form their own personalities during early years of development and are gifted with "a hundred languages", through which they can express their unique talents and ideas.
Our primary focus is to embrace these languages and encourage our children to absorb information and discover the true joy of learning.
The Practical Life curriculum in a Montessori classroom helps develop basic skills required in everyday life. Carefully prepared activities will help your child develop a sense for social relations, discipline, grace and courtesy, care of the self, and care of the environment. Activities are designed to use large and small muscle movement, as well as hand-eye coordination such as spooning, squeezing, pouring, twisting, rolling and folding, pounding and stringing, and more.
Sensorial materials are designed to help develop your child's visual, auditory, and tactile senses. Some Montessori materials, such as the bi-nomial cubes, are concrete representations of mathematical concepts that appear in later schooling. This area starts with simple math and geometry in preschool and moves up to pre-algebra in the elementary years.
100 Languages
The Reggio Emilia City of Hundred Languages project was designed to uphold everyone’s right to well-being. In order for children to feel well in the city, everybody also has to feel well. We believe that a homely place for a child is a homely place for all people.
The child
is made of one hundred.
The child has
a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking
of playing, of speaking.
A hundred always a hundred…
